A Day at Disney Part Two

When we headed over to Mickey's Toontown Fair to see Mickey Mouse it was still drizzling rain so we went straight to Mickey's house. We passed Minnie's house but didn't go in. Mickey's house was so cute. There was Mickey's bedroom, complete with his closet full of Mickey suits and gloves, his living room, game room, and kitchen, which was being renovated by Donald and Goofy. In the back yard was Pluto's dog house, Mickey's vegetable garden, and garage. From there, you entered into a fair tent to wait in line to see Mickey and Minnie. It was really neat because we got to meet them all by ourselves without any other people around. They allowed you to take pictures and they took pictures, as well.

Max was so excited. He ran right up to Mickey and gave him a hug. Minnie of course hugged and kissed everyone. Minnie was very bossy, pointing out how all the pictures should be taken. My sister said, " I can't believe Minnie was that bossy without even saying a word!" It was the highlight of the day for Max and he still says that it was his favorite part. Wesley was, again, not scared and wanted to grad their noses. He still tries to grad them when he sees a picture of them.

I know this one is blurry but I think it's still too cute.

He was so excited!

There's nothing better than a hug from Mickey Mouse!

It was still drizzling rain outside so we decided just to leave the park since we had no umbrellas or ponchos. The boys were both tired and we were too. On the way out Max saw the Tomorrowland Speedway and had to do that. Rex and Max did that while we tried to find a dry spot to wait in. Space Mountain was closed for renovations and that was about the only thing we wanted to do that we didn't get to do. We missed the parades and I know Max would have really enjoyed that since he loves parades. The walk back to the gate was miserable. It was raining the entire time and we all got soaked. Max decided on the way out that he wanted some Mickey Mouse ears so we stopped in the gift shop on Main Street before leaving. Thank goodness again for the baby carrier. It has a hood on it so I wore Wesley on the way out and he stayed pretty dry. The rest of us were pretty wet. Max had wanted to ride the water ferry to get to Magic Kingdom that morning but we were in a hurry so we decided to ride it on the way back to the parking lot. The boys enjoyed it and it was nice just to sit down for a while.

Max was dancing on the ferry ride.

This sums it up. Max soaked, not wanting his pictured made, Wesley crying, and dad smiling.

Our day was done and we were exhausted. It was an awesome day and I can't wait to go back. We may try to do 2 days next year since it will be the last year before Max starts school. It was a very long day but well worth the effort it took to go. The boys did great and it was a very memorable day for us all.

A day at Disney Part One

We made our first magical trip to Disney World as a family on Thursday. We went to Magic Kingdom. Max was so excited but I think I was just as excited about it as he was. This was Rex's first time to Disney world as well.

We arrived at Magic Kingdom right at 9:00. We headed in after renting a double stroller and motorized cart for mom. We had to have our pictures made at the front gate, of course. When we got onto Main Street Pluto and Donald were there. Max was not in the greatest of moods that morning and there were really long lines to meet them so we just headed into the park. Once Max saw Cinderella's castle he got a little more excited. We walked to the castle because Max wanted to go and see it up close. There was an opening show going on so we got to watch Mickey, Minnie, and friends dance and sing. Max watched the show quietly, still taking a little bit to warm up. I was way more excited than him at this point. LOL!

Taking the trolley from the parking lot to the gate entrance.

Yeah! We finally made it to Magic Kingdom!!

Max of course didn't want to cooperate for pictures!

Look Daddy, it's the castle!!

It's Mickey Mouse!!!

Wesley wasn't too sure about all the stuff going on around him.

After the show we headed over to Adventure Land. First we visited the home of the Swiss Family Robinson. I loved this more than Max because this was one of our family favorites growing up. I have watched Swiss Family Robinson 100 plus times, I'm sure. It was neat to climb to the top and see all their living quarters and the things they had in the movie.

Next was Aladdin's flying carpets. Max, Wesley, my dad, and I rode this one. Max liked driving the carpet and Wesley liked it except when Max would make it dip down too fast. He liked it flying high in the air though and would just laugh and make noises. There was a camel in front of the ride that would spit water every minute or so and Max thought that was hilarious.

We then rode Pirates of the Caribbean. Max was a little scared of this because it was pretty dark inside and it goes down a kind of fast hill. It was nice to be in the cool air conditioning though. Wesley fell asleep during the ride and slept for about 20 minutes or so afterwards. We stopped and had a little snack after this because we were all getting hungry. We brought in lunch and snacks to help save on money.

Last in Adventure Land was the Jungle Cruise. The classic ride was just the same as I remembered it. We had a very interactive tour guide that told corny jokes the whole time. It made for a fun ride. Max asked me if I got scared of the big snake in the tree. I don't know if he thought all of it was real or not.

Watch out for those man eating crocs on the jungle cruise!!!

We then went over to Frontier Land. Max stood in line to see Goofy but he left when we were almost to the front of the line. He watched Splash Mountain but didn't want to go. I didn't figure he would since the kiddie roller coaster at Lake Winnie scares him. My dad, mom, sister, and I all rode Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and it was a blast.

On the way to The Haunted Mansion Max got to meet Donald Duck. Of course my camera batteries died when we got up there and I didn't get to take any pictures on my camera. Max wouldn't have his pictured made with him but he gave him five and hugged him. Wesley wanted to grab his beak. Rex, Wesley, and I got our picture made with Donald though.

We stopped and got Mickey ice creams and fruit pops after we met Donald. Max wanted a strawberry fruitsicle instead of the traditional Mickey ice cream but it was cold and refreshing in the muggy heat. Wesley thoroughly enjoyed the strawberry popsicle himself. He would take a bite and scrunch his face up because of the cold and go right back for another bite.

After our ice cream break we went to the Haunted Mansion, the only thing we did in Liberty Square. Max was really wanting to ride this because there was a channel in our resort that played a 5 minute show over and over again all about Disney. Max watched it 50 times or more and they talked about it on there. Once inside the mansion, you go into this big room and it gets dark. He was already wanting to get out of there, at this point. Wesley went to sleep in my arms while waiting to get on. You have to get on and off while the car is moving. This is not easy to do with a sleeping 10 month old in your arms. Needless to say, Max didn't enjoy it at all and was more than happy when we got out of the mansion. Wesley actually slept in the stroller for a while and then I strapped him on me and slept through several more rides. Boy do I love that Ergo baby carrier!!

The many faces of Wesley eating a cold popsicle.

This is his winking face. You can see that he actually does wink one eye. He is such a little ham.

The Haunted Mansion hearse.

We finally headed toward Fantasy Land. Max had waited all day to make it to Dumbo but first we rode Peter Pan and It's a Small World. He loved Peter Pan and the flying planes. He thought they were so cool. He liked Small World too. He asked about all the different nationalities. Wesley slept through both of these but woke up just in time to ride the carousal. We all rode the carousel. Who doesn't like riding on the carousel? At the carousel they have the Sword and the Stone set up. Of course, Max had to try it out. Up next was Dumbo! Max had been waiting for Dumbo all day. I think to him that was Disney World. Dumbo is in every commercial and advertisement for Disney, after all. Max, Wesley, and I road Dumbo together. Wesley liked it but again didn't like when Max would make it dip down and up fast. He liked being up high and at the same speed.

Max loved this bicycle on a rope in the air in Small World.

Max or King Arthur?

Hey Paw Paw's!

Look, Max, there's Daddy, Nana's, and Aunt Jessi. Say Hi!

We were ready for The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh next but it had a wait so we fast passed it. Max decided he wanted to play in Pooh's house so we all took a little break around the play area. I fed Wesley some lunch while Max played. Rex and Max waited in line to see Tigger and Pooh but Max bailed at the last minute and said he didn't want to see them. You never know with 4 year olds. Our fast pass tickets gave us some fast pass tickets to the 3D movie and when it started to rain we decided to head over to it. We all enjoyed the movie. It was very cute and well worth the time out of our day to see it. Since Wesley had slept for an hour he was wide awake inside this time. It had quit raining once we were finished at the movie so we decided to head back to the Pooh ride. When we were almost there it came a down pour. We made under it some shelter just in time. It ended up raining for an hour and a half. It slacked up some once or twice just to start pouring again. Wesley took one more short nap after nursing, thank goodness for Hooter Hiders even though he hates it now, but didn't sleep for more than 20 or 30 minutes. Finally, the rain stopped. Thankfully, my sister got a garbage sack from one of the employees so we could at least cover up our things hanging off the stroller if it started raining again.

We finally made it to Pooh. Even though our fast pass was expired, they still let us go through the fast line. This ride was too cute. I am a huge Pooh fan and so is Max. He loved this ride. It tells the story of Winnie the Pooh in a minute or two ride. When it comes to the chapter where Tigger arrives the cart bounces up and down like Tigger and it was the cutest thing ever. This was probably my favorite ride other than the roller coaster. It was drizzling rain again when we got out. The main thing Max had wanted all day long was to see Mickey. He asked over and over, "Where is Mickey? When do I get to see Mickey?" So, we headed over to Toontown Fair to see Mickey Mouse.

...Winnie-the-Pooh lived in the forest all by himself under the name of Sanders.

"What does under the name mean?" asked Christopher Robin.

"It means he had the name over the door in gold letters, and he lived under it. "

-A.A. Milne

Wesley sporting the 3D glasses. He wouldn't keep them on, of course!

Max hiding from the camera, as always. I was able snap a quick one!

Paw Paw's said, "Look there's Mickey Mouse!" Max jumped up and said, "Where?" Then of course he was upset because Mickey wasn't really there.

Man, I am tired of being stuck in the rain!

That is all for this post. You will have to check back to see us meeting Mickey and Minnie and the rest of our day at Disney!!
