Poor sick baby

My little Wesley has been sick for a month now. He has had a runny nose, cough, and congestion but Tuesday he woke up hoarse and continued to get worse as the day went on. He had already been on Singular, Allegra, and Zyrtec to no avail. He has been running a low grade 99 temp off and on the whole month but Monday night and Tuesday morning it got to 101. Since his fever elevated the doctor wanted to see him in the office. Off we go at 2:30 to the doctor's office for the 4th time this month. This was not in my plans since I was having a Pampered Chef party at my house that night.
Thankfully, Dr. Spraggins came in pretty soon after we got there. She said she didn't want to make us wait the rest of the day for Wesley to be seen. He coughed several times while she was there and she got to hear how raspy his voice was. Diagnosis: Croup! They gave him an oral steroid in the office and put him on his first antibiotic.
He is so pitiful. This morning he could barely even cry or make any noise at all. He has gotten a little bit of his voice back but he is still very hoarse. He was up crying and only slept for 4 to 5 hours a night Saturday to Wednesday. Thankfully, last night he slept all night. Boy did we both need it.
I of course now have gotten sick. I think it's mainly from running on no sleep for 4 days and both boys having the crud. Max was sick over the weekend but is doing a lot better with just a little bit of congestion.
Max was never sick as an infant. He was 15 months old before he was ever on an antibiotic and that was for an ear infection. Even though it is baby number two, I am experiencing something new having a sick infant. It is just pitiful to hear that little raspy baby voice and for him to cry and not be able to do anything about it. Please, pray that he gets well soon and these medicines will actually work and make him well!

Not me! Monday!

I got this idea from a fellow blogger Angela, who get it from it's creator MckMama. This is a list of things that I didn't do this week.

I would never let Max play in Wesley's baby toys. That would be dangerous as he is way past the weight limit on such said items. I would never tell him to keep continuing what he is doing so I can get the camera either. Never not me!

I would never let my 7 month old fall asleep in the floor and leave him there while I took pictures of his big brother playing in the baby toys either. (Look in the background in above picture).

I would never let Max stand on the diaper pail and entertain his brother while I change his diaper.

I would never let Wesley play with a balloon either while changing his diaper.

I would never let Max jump on his bed with Wesley on it just because it makes him laugh and take video of it. Never no! Not me!

I would never run and get my camera to take a picture of all my boys sitting in the floor together, the little ones watching the big one play his XBox.

I always dress my son myself when he finishes using the potty so he will always have his clothes on the right way.

I always, always make sure my child eats a proper breakfast lunch and dinner. I would never let him have cereal for dinner and then leftovers of chicken and dressing, ham, and mac and cheese for breakfast.

I would never let my child fall asleep in his high chair while I did a load of laundry and started running his bath. I would never then go and search for the camera because his head was laying on the table and take a picture anyway when I found tje camera and he had moved his head because he is just too cute! No not me!

Maxisms for the week 2/21/09

Driving home just today from baseball sign ups I asked Max if he wanted some chicken nuggets from Wendy's. He said yes then said, "No I want a Ceaser's." I didn't really want to have to get both kids out of the car to get a pizza and I didn't want to spend $5 on the pizza that he would eat 2 pieces of and I can't eat any of it. I tell him, "No, I don't want to spend the money on the pizza." He says, "But Mom, it's only $5!!!!"

"I am sure am glad Daddy went to church with us because I sure do love him. I like to play his XBox too." I asked him, "does mommy have anything fun?" He says, "Not really but you do have your blog!"

"I brought my different bass with me to because it sounds different than my other guitar." I asked him, "How does it sound different?" He answered, "Because it doesn't plug up to an amplifier!"

I get my hair done in Fort Oglethorpe and I usually get off at the Cloud Springs Rd exit. We were driving by a shopping center right off the interstate and he shouts, "Mommy, I just saw the bull mark!" If you have seen the commercial you know what I'm talking about.

After spilling some drink on himself he says, "Mommy, I just got that wetness on my pants!"

I was holding Wesley and Max leans over and whispered something in his ear. I asked him what he whispered to his brother. He says, " I told him just do whatever she tells you and you will be ok." Maybe we were having some discipline issues that day!:)

He is telling me a story about what happened to him and his daddy a few months ago....
"We got in the truck and totally thought the truck was dead but we tried again and it fired right up! I don't have any idea what was wrong with it!"

Did you hear that beat? I was a scary beat.

I set it down correctly where it needed to be.

For all you nursing moms out there...
I get fresh milk and brother gets breast milk.

Dancing Machine

Max was watching icarly earlier today. On this episode The Plain White Tees did a guest appearance and sang a song. He has been dancing around all day today and I grabbed the camera in enough time to catch the end of it. We may have a break dancer on our hands! Enjoy!

Using my hands

A friend gave Wesley a jar of Gerber Puffs for Valentine's on Monday. I had been contemplating buying some for him but was putting it off a little longer. Since we were given some I decided to try and see how he liked them and what he would do with them. It didn't take him long to get the hang of it. This is him last night the second night with self feeding the puffs.

Valentine's Day

Rex and I had planned to go to one of my favorite restaurants, Carrabba's, for Valentine's Day. I called on Friday to check about reservations and they said to call back on Saturday 2 to 3 hours before hand and they would put our names on the list, then we could call back 30 minutes before we got there to see how the wait was going. So I called at the 2 1/2 hour mark and they said they were only taking call ahead 30 min before hand. I called back at 6:15 and she told me they weren't taking call ahead any more. I told her I had already talked to 2 people and she told me since I had she would put our names on the list but it was already a 2 hr wait so we would be seated at 8 instead of the 7 we had planned on.
Okay, no big deal. We will go ahead and drop the boys off at my MIL and then run to the mall because I needed to pick up Wesley's pictures anyway. Of course, the picture place was closed so we went ahead and went to Carrabba's. We pulled into the parking lot at 7:45 and you couldn't even get into the door. It took us 15 minutes to even get to the hostess stand and when Rex finally got up there they told him it would be and hour and a half wait from the time our name was on the list for. Needless to say there was no way we could wait until 9:30 to even be seated.
We called a few other places with no luck so we ended up going to......Ryan's! Yes, Ryan's! Not very romantic but it was still very good. Our anniversary is next month so we will just go on a date and go to Carrabba's then. We did enjoy our date even though it wasn't what was planned or expected. I think next year we will either go earlier or later and not go out on Valentine's night.
My sweetie did surprise me with a message and facial treatment gift certificate. I am sure I will enjoy them both.

Yesterday we had our playgroup Valentine's Day party. The kids had a ball and it was really nice to see some friends we haven't seen in a good long while. It was all fun and games until 2 of the little girls got into the bathroom and overflowed the toilet so much the water started leaking through the kitchen light fixture. If you want to read the whole story, check out my friend LeeAnne's blog on my list. I sure am glad Max wasn't in the midst of all that mess. Poor Karen, I feel for her! Anyway, here a few pictures from our party yesterday.
These are out of order but here they are.

Wesley fell asleep about half way through in Miss Jessica's arms. I know who to call if I ever need a sitter!

The boys playing together. Max is trying to "help" Wesley!

My big boy!

The cake I made for the party.

Monkey see, monkey do! Little Hudson is just hanging out watching the big boys be silly.

It is so much more fun to swing on your belly!

Seven moths

Wesley turned 7 months old on Wednesday. I can't believe another month is gone already. I can't believe I've actually starting birthday party planning! :( It makes me sad to see how much time has already flown by.

He is such a little jabber box. I had to take him out of church Wednesday night because he doing his running motor so loud and continuously. Of course, his Paw Paw's said as I reached the door that is wasn't bothering him but it is only cute for so long. He of course babbles but he says Dadee and Dada all the time, he hasn't made the connection of course but he says them none the less. Max thinks he says things all the time and will tell me, "Mommy, Wesley just said ohhbay (or whatever he thinks he said)." It is too funny.

He still is a toothless wonder but I wish they would just come in already! All this slobber and fussiness for nothing! Arggghhh!!! He has several knots on the gums and that same eye tooth is there. You can see it under the skin it just won't break threw. Maybe, I should be grateful since he is still nursing.

He is on the verge of crawling. He can get anywhere he wants by his leap frog move. If you haven't seen it, check it out below in older posts. He is on his knees whenever you put him on the floor know and has gotten back up to a seated position after laying flat several times.

He reaches out for people when they hold their hands out to hold him. He also will turn away when he doesn't want to go. He is using his hands and arms really well now and has very good control for the most part. He still will hit himself in the face with toys sometimes. Of course everything that he gets a hold of goes in the mouth. He loves to tare paper.

He is eating pretty good and is now in the second foods stage. We just started meat this week. He doesn't seem to care much for it but maybe he will like it better the more he gets of it. He sleeps through the night most nights so that is nice for me. He still likes to be swaddled to sleep and will stay that way all night. He usually doesn't wiggle out of it.

He is still such a joy and has just the sweet disposition. He laughs all the time and loves to interact with people. Max loves to make him laugh and Wesley thinks big brother is the best. I love to see them playing together and laughing at each other. I can't wait until Wes is bigger and they get to really play and interact together.

Here are a few pics from this week. The naked pics and pics in the green chair were from last night pre and post bath. The other are a few I took Tuesday when I was going to do a wordless Wednesday post and ended up being gone all day.

Max actually took this picture of him laughing! What a happy boy!

Bath time fun!

Getting ready for bed time!

Snug as a bug in a rug!

I was trying to capture his new face where he wrinkles up his nose. This is close but too cute not share!

You know your tied when take 2

Now it's Wesley's turn. One day last week, Wesley hadn't slept all day. He was fussy and just not a happy boy. After dinner and bath time I put his pj's on him and put him in the floor. I wnet and put on my pj's, washed my face, and did my nightly routine. I knew it had gotten awfully quiet in the living room, when I came in this is what I found...

Of course, he woke up when I picked him up to swaddle him. Yes, he is still being swaddled and he sleeps so much better when he is. I think we will be swaddling him until he's going to kindergarten. :) I digress, but there is nothing sweeter than a sleeping baby.

Wesley's new bed

Well we finally got around to putting up Wesley's bed last week. I still have to work on the letters for his name to go above his bed but I have got to buy the supplies first. I bought letters from uppercase living and I am going to pain canvas in the colors of the bedding, maybe some with the stripes and polka dots even. I haven't decided for sure. Hopefully, I will get that done in the next week or so. I need to do Max's too. I really do like his bedding even though it wasn't my initial choice but it's hard to beat a good deal! I got his bedding on EBay brand new in the bag for $75. It sells online at several baby stores and Target for $199 and up.

The sheet and inside of the comforter are white with tiny polka dots in the same colors as the big dots. My friend Karen got me the matching blanket for a shower gift.

The boys in the bed, obviously Wesley wasn't very happy about it.

Max had to get in with Wesley but didn't want his picture made. Imagine!

From inch worm to leap frog

Wesley has really started moving over the last few weeks. He first was rolling to get places and then he started kind of pulling himself around. Then he started the inch worm. I shot the first video on Wednesday. Of course he isn't doing it as good or going too far on camera but you get the jist. They never do what you want them to when you want them too. :)

Well this morning he went from and inch worm to a leap frog...

Looks like he will be crawling sooner than I want him to!

I hope the worst is over

Well we have had our first family sickness. Max and I have gotten sick together a lot but Rex usually doesn't catch whatever it is we have. Tuesday evening around 4:00 out of the blue Max says, "I need to throw up!" Great, I thought. It hadn't been but a few hours ago I had talked to my bible study leader and told her I was glad we didn't have the stomach virus she said he family had had. He continued to get sick but was nothing like the last virus he had. Well around 6:00 I start feeling nauseous and it hit me a couple of hours later. Max and I were both sick off and on the rest of the night. Around 1:00 am, Rex started getting sick and around 2:00 Wesley got it.
As far as families doing things together this is one I wish we could have skipped. Prayerfully, Wesley got the least of it but unfortunately Rex was the worst. Of course, for the man who never gets sick when he does you would think he is dieing.;)
After a day of rest and well needed sleep we are all doing better not 100% but better. Hopefully that was all of this one. I guess now it is just until the next one.

A reward for Max

Last week we took Max to Chuck E Cheese a reward for pooping in the potty. CEC is one of his favorite places and I have been saving it as a reward for pottying. I had a coupon for 100 tokens for $15 and we used them all. Rex kept saying there is no way we will use all of these but we did. We stayed later than we had planned on but Max had a blast. My sister, Alicia, ended up stopping by since she lives about 5 minutes from there and she hadn't seen the boys in awhile. Here are a few pics.

Wesley eating dinner in his stroller. What a happy boy he is, such a joy!

Wesley and Aunt Shia

He loves that bike!
He was cracking us up on this roller coaster simulator. He was really getting into it!

Playing a favorite, air hockey!

Big boy in the big boy game side. Where did my baby go?

Next adventure, Pump it Up. I promised that I would take him there too so we will be visitning sometime soon!
