Batter Up!

Max had his first T-ball practice with his team, The Grasshoppers, on Thursday and first game on Saturday. He loved practice and it was so funny to watch all the little ones try to play with absolutely no idea what to do. Max did surprisingly well and followed directions better than I expected. Why do kids always follow directions from everyone else better than their parents, or is this just my child? All he really wanted to do at practice was bat and we had to have several talks about having to take turns. He cried when it was time to go because he wasn't ready to quit yet.

We didn't get his uniform until Friday night and he was so excited he had to wear it the rest of the day. He couldn't wait for his game. Saturday morning Rex took him to the game because they had to be there at 8:45 and I was running a little behind. It was so cold and cloudy that morning but that didn't stop those little ones from having a ball. It was mass chaos whenever a ball was hit. All the kids went running for the ball at the same time. Max only got the ball one time but they all got to bat 3 times. The last time Max batted he hit the ball and it went just shy of second base, not to bad from off the tee. He would wait at home plate each time to get his high-five from his coach before he would head back to the dugout. There are no winners or losers, no outs or runs, they are just learning the game and having fun. Max had a major audience there for him. My parent's, Rex's dad, Aunt Shia, our cousins Colby, Jessica, and Neely, our friends James, Mandy, and Abby, and mommy, daddy, and brother, of course. Here are a few pictures from practice and the game.

Ready to get started. Notice the glove on the wrong hand.

Max on second base. Yes, I took a picture of him on each base.

Finally, getting ready to bat on the very short tee.

Let's get this game started!

Waiting to go back onto the field.

Waiting to bat for the first time.

Finally, smiling. He really hated that helmet!

He always had his hands on his hips.

Sounds like he's having a blast! That's so funny about the hands on hips. He's probably imitating the other dads/coaches on the field. LOL!
